WHERE OLD-SCHOOL CREATIVITY COLLIDES WITH CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY

Contact Information

Our laboratory intends to explore and illustrate the connections, and the disconnections, between past creative ideas and state-of-the-art high technology. We will provide a platform for discussions or illustrations, possibly using collections of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT’s) to support and demonstrate our views.

As an example of some disconnections, Leonardo da Vinci sketched plans for a helicopter in the late 1480’s, but Igor Sikorsky didn’t get his first flying chopper off the ground until 1939, almost 460 years later! What took so long?

Also, Jules Verne “invented” a nuclear-powered submarine (the “Nautilus”) in his 1869 novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, but the first real-world nuclear sub wasn’t launched until 1954, 85 years later! Did it take General Dynamics that long to read the novel?

Where was the disconnect?

We intend to explore these types of lost connections and creations in our upcoming Projects.

ANNOUNCEMENT

We are pleased to announce our first Project for discussion/illustration. As you may imagine, the topic of connections and disconnections is literally unlimited, but we have decided to focus this Project on a fairly recent cultural phenomenon -- the advent and popularity/hysteria of Non Fungible Tokens (NFT's). Specifically, the 2017 introduction of CryptoPunk NFT's. We will begin this discussion/analysis tomorrow, December 18, 2021 at 1700hrs Zulu, 12 o'clock noon East Coast United States.

Questions and comments should be directed to Ted Wynn as listed above. We are very excited about this Project and look forward to community involvement.

Lo- Rez Labs PROJECT #1

PUNKS

PUNK HISTORY

Punks have been around for a long time… like, well, almost forever. Some historical examples:

  1. Pre-historic cave drawings in Europe clearly show a young punk with a beard, wearing a beanie and smoking a cigarette while on a mastodon hunt

  2. Ancient Egyptian papyrus scrolls describe punks chiseling "gang tags" onto the stones of the Great Pyramid at Giza

  3. In 1392 Geoffrey Chaucer wrote his Canterbury Tales, one of which described a punk who fashioned the first “whoopee” cushion from a pig bladder, seriously pissing off the Round Table Knights

  4. In 1917, a group of Russian punks started a revolution they wanted to call the “Bullshit Revolution”, but they misspelled their pamphlets, and it became the Bolshevik Revolution

December 19, 2021 Punk History (continued)

Moving on with PUNK HISTORY...

     5. There’s probably no need to mention World War I – obviously a punk designed the military’s            gas masks…

           (Is that a bored ape?)

6. World War II punks were known as “Kilroy”, and they were everywhere

         7. Nixon was a punk, obviously.

       8. Steampunks were… well, who really knows what they were?

       9. Clint Eastwood is definitely NOT a punk! Never has been, never will be.

But where does that leave the punks of the world?

What happens to PUNKS after Harry Callahan?

We will find out tomorrow December 20, 2021

1700 Zulu, 12 o'clock noon Eastern

December 20, 2021 Punk History (continued)

Pre-historic punks. Medieval punks. Punks during wartime. Even punks who suffered the wrath of Dirty Harry.

But what is current today?

Today, we have wildly popular, simplistic, computer-generated, pixelated representations of 10,000 “crypto” punks, and a growing number of copycats and derivatives.

Where did the original pixelated punks come from?

How do pixels become punks?

What were these punks before they were pixels???

On Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 12 o'clock noon Eastern

we will debut of first NFT Project, "PRE-PIXEL PUNKS" on

Opensea.io

We hope you will visit and enjoy.

PRE-PIXEL PUNKS

A limited NFT collection of 50 representations of punks, selected at random from a universe of, oh, say ten thousand existing pixelated punks, demonstrating the possible genesis of today’s crazy punks before they were born, created, or algorithem’d. If you have a CryptoPunk maybe you want to see what it looked like before it was pixelated.

Not a “community”, not a “metaverse game”, not a “voxel”, 3D something, computer generated screensaver, new crypto-currency, or made-up mythological-superhero-fantasy farmland. Just an old-school “low-rezolution” low-tech project poking fun at some other stuff.

NOTE WELL: No computers or pixels were harmed or electrified in the creation of our Pre-Pixel Punks.

NOTE EVEN MORE WELL: We will only ever produce/create/mint/”drop” or otherwise release these FIFTY Pre-Pixel Punks. Anything that follows our original issue will be either a “right-click”, rip-off, scam or cheap imitation.

And we guaran-dam-tee that!
